DENVER, Colo. (January 13, 2016) – The Wells Fargo Foundation is helping thousands of Coloradans get career development resources by supporting Goodwill Industries of Denver. The foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to fund Goodwill Denver’s Career Connection Centers. There are ten Career Connection Centers across the Denver metro area and northern Colorado, and each one offers free tools to anyone seeking a path to a successful future.
In today’s workforce, postsecondary education and job training are critical to ensuring low-income struggling adults and individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to achieve a sustainable career. Goodwill Denver’s Career Connection Centers are open to the public and staffed by career counselors who mentor participants in resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills and job search strategies. Using a one-on-one approach, Goodwill counselors individualize their career development services to each job seeker who walks through the door by providing ongoing case management and support.
“Helping individuals succeed is the vision of Wells Fargo and a commitment we share with Goodwill Industries of Denver,” said Pat Cortez, Wells Fargo’s Community Affairs manager for Colorado. “Though we know this grant is a small part of Goodwill’s career services program, we hope it will make a big impact on the participants as they look to develop in their careers.”
Between 2014 and 2015 Goodwill Denver provided career development services to 5,672 adults, placing more than 1,430 people into jobs. “Goodwill is so thankful for its partnership with Wells Fargo,” said Kristen Blessman, Chief Marketing Officer at Goodwill Industries of Denver. “Their commitment to workforce development in our community will help thousands of struggling individuals get the training and support they need to find meaningful employment.”
