DOUGLAS COUNTY – DCSD seniors are well on their way to college with prestigious scholarships paving the way. The Class of 2015 has secured nearly $65 million in scholarships and several top honors.
Two DCSD students are winners of the prestigious Boettcher Scholars award. Vismaya Bachu and Lauren Yehle both attend Rock Canyon High School.
Boettcher Scholars are awarded full-ride, merit-based scholarships to attend a four-year college or university within the State of Colorado. The scholarship includes virtually all college expenses: full tuition, fees, a book allowance and an annual stipend for living expenses. Scholars must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The Daniels Scholarship Program is honoring three DCSD students this year for their exceptional character, leadership and a commitment to serving their communities.
Devin Reasoner, Cecilia Pollice and Karandeep Shankar received the Daniels Scholarship, which pays toward the costs of tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and miscellaneous educational expenses. Reasoner attends Chaparral High School, while Pollice and Shankar go to ThunderRidge High School.
Three DCSD students are being recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
ThunderRidge High School’s Megan Wenham was awarded the National Merit Lockheed Martin Academic Scholarship. Wenham’s scholarship totals $12,000 paid over four years.
Brandon Lee from ThunderRidge High School and Arthur Max Ho Fei Zabronsky from Douglas County High School are recipients of the National Merit Scholarship, which totals $2,500.
